Building a Strong Future: The Fernie Youth Foundation

The Fernie Youth Foundation exists for one purpose: to strengthen and sustain the life-changing work of Fernie Youth Services. While Fernie Youth Services provides direct supports to justice-involved and vulnerable youth through programs like Island Road, Transition House, Youth Transition Services, Beat Builders, Fernie Works, and more, the Foundation plays a vital behind-the-scenes role.

Through fund development, responsible financial management, and strong governance, the Foundation ensures that Fernie Youth Services has the resources it needs to deliver programs that help young people heal, grow, and succeed. Every dollar raised, every partnership built, and every decision made at the Foundation ultimately supports youth on their journey toward stability and opportunity.

How the Foundation Supports Fernie Youth Services

  • Sustaining Programs: By raising funds and stewarding resources, the Foundation ensures core programs continue to run and expand. This includes residential programs, employment readiness, education, and mental health supports.
  • Strengthening Governance: The Foundation provides oversight, ensuring that funds are used responsibly and in ways that maximize impact.
  • Expanding Community Support: The Foundation builds partnerships with donors, businesses, and community members who share the vision that youth deserve opportunities for success.

Board Recruitment – A Call to Community Leaders

The Foundation’s success depends on the strength of its volunteer Board of Directors. Board members bring their skills, networks, and passion to guide the Foundation’s strategy and ensure it can fulfill its mission.

This fall, the Fernie Youth Foundation is actively recruiting new Board members. We are seeking leaders who believe in the potential of youth and want to contribute their time, expertise, and vision to building stronger communities.

What Board Members Do:

  • Attend five meetings per year
  • Support fundraising efforts and community engagement
  • Serve as ambassadors for Fernie Youth Services
  • Share their professional and lived experiences to guide the Foundation’s work

Board members become part of a team dedicated to making a lasting difference for youth across Toronto.

Get Involved

The Fernie Youth Foundation is more than a governance body—it’s a community of people who believe that every young person deserves a chance to thrive. Whether by serving on the Board, making a donation, or spreading the word, you can be part of this important work.
